Government pages publish different caps. The central OCI FAQ says 200 KB for photograph and signature; Auckland's page says 500 KB. TravelPrepKit uses the stricter 200 KB target. Follow the limit shown in your live upload.
1. Prepare a wide signature image
Write your signature clearly, then scan or photograph it without cutting off any ink. Auckland's published minimum and maximum dimensions, 200×67 and 1500×500 pixels, describe a frame approximately three times as wide as it is tall. Its ratio label is inconsistent with those dimensions; use the pixel dimensions and live portal prompts.

2. Check the central photo and signature cap
Question 9 states the central photograph and signature cap. Keep the signature as a separate JPEG/JPG upload; do not combine it with the photograph or document PDF.

Why the shape matters
The Indian Consulate in Auckland publishes signature dimensions between 200×67 and 1500×500 pixels, approximately three times as wide as tall. A signature cropped tightly around the ink often comes out nearly square, which the upload can refuse.
TravelPrepKit places the ink on a white 3:1 frame instead of cropping it, so nothing you wrote is cut off, then keeps the file under the official FAQ's 200 KB. Auckland publishes 500 KB, while the central FAQ says 200 KB. Follow the limit in your live upload.
How to add it
Prepare your OCI photo first. At the final photo confirmation, the signature is offered as an optional add-on for each person, and it is paid for together with the photo.
Questions
What size should the OCI signature be?
Three times as wide as it is tall, between 200×67 and 1500×500 pixels, and under 200 KB.
Can I use a square crop of my signature?
It is safer not to. The upload expects a 3:1 shape; TravelPrepKit pads the signature onto a white 3:1 frame rather than cropping it.
Where do I prepare the signature on TravelPrepKit?
In the OCI photo flow. It appears as an optional add-on at the final photo confirmation.
