1. Check the entry route

Use the official visitor guidance to check your purpose and route. The Visa Waiver Program and ESTA have separate eligibility conditions; they are not visitor visas. Work, study and immigration require their own official guidance.

2. Read your embassy’s instructions

Check the embassy or consulate handling your application. The sequence for fees, appointments and supporting evidence can vary; use that location’s current instructions.

3. Complete and review DS-160

Follow the Department of State’s official DS-160 link. Review your answers yourself and retain the barcode confirmation page. Keep it as issued; this guide does not collect your answers or submit the form.

4. Gather the documents requested

Use the official checklist and any embassy-specific requests. Prepare readable supporting scans only where requested, and keep the originals available.

5. Follow the photo instructions

Use the official photograph requirements without retouching your appearance. If DS-160 photo upload fails, follow the official help and your embassy’s instructions for providing a photograph; do not assume the application’s photo step is complete.

6. Follow payment and appointment instructions

Pay official charges yourself through the instructed channel. Follow any interview and biometrics instructions from your embassy; do not infer an exemption from this guide.

7. Follow the official outcome

Use the authority’s messages for further requests, the decision and passport return. Preparing documents does not establish eligibility or guarantee a visa.

Prepare supporting copies, keep official forms intact

Use your application’s checklist and upload instructions for each supporting scan. Enter those requirements in custom document preparation, then inspect small text, stamps and every required page. These settings are your requirements, not a government-verified preset.

Keep original government forms and barcode confirmations. Do not flatten, resize or compress a validated form or confirmation through the document-copy tool; follow the authority’s instructions for that original file.

Questions

Is ESTA the same as a visitor visa?

No. ESTA belongs to the conditional Visa Waiver Program. Use the official route guidance before choosing an application.

Can I run my DS-160 confirmation through the PDF tool?

Keep the barcode confirmation as issued. The tool is for supporting scan-style copies, not validated government forms or barcode confirmations.

Does TravelPrepKit submit the application?

No. You complete, review, pay for and submit the government application yourself. This guide links to official instructions.
