How to read these screenshots

These are browser screenshots of current public government pages and blank forms, captured on 8 October 2026. Screens requiring passport details or a real application are explained in text. No applicant details were entered or application submitted. Follow the live form and the official instructions .

Before you apply

Check your nationality and visa category on the official portal. For an eligible e-Tourist application, the government says the passport needs at least six months’ validity when applying and two blank pages. Have your travel details, a recent photograph and a scan of the same passport ready.

  • Check eligibility

Nationality, passport type, purpose and entry point can affect the available service.

  • Apply in time

The current FAQ gives a 120-day window and a minimum of four days before arrival.

  • Use only the official portal

Enter personal details and pay the visa fee on the Government of India site.

The current rules and application window are on the official e-Visa instructions and FAQ .

Step-by-step application

Follow the application journey with current public screens. Complete private form fields on the government portal using your own details.

  1. 01

    Open the official e-Visa portal

Check the eligible nationality list, your visa purpose and the current instructions on indianvisaonline.gov.in. Choose Apply here for e-visa. The public homepage below was captured in October 2026.

  2. 02

    Start with your passport details

The current registration page first asks for your passport number, country/region and name as in the passport. Enter your own details. The blank screenshot shows that initial gate; later choices depend on your answers.

  3. 03

Complete the personal and passport questions

Copy your name, passport number and issue/expiry dates accurately from the passport you will use. Follow the live form’s required fields. These later screens require applicant details, so no current private form is pictured here.

  4. 04

Check every background and travel answer

Provide your actual address, family and travel information when the form requests it. Confirm uncertain facts before continuing. Later questions can differ by nationality and visa category; follow the current form.

  5. 05

Keep the ID for an unfinished application

Save the temporary application ID supplied by the portal. Use Complete Partially Filled Application Form to return. The current public return screen is blank below; it requires your own ID and verification.

  6. 06

    Prepare and upload the photograph

The current public instructions specify a square JPEG, 10 KB–1 MB, full front view, eyes open, no spectacles, plain white or light background, no shadows and no borders. The image below shows those instructions. Check the actual preview and confirmation when you reach your upload field.

  7. 07

    Prepare the passport bio-page PDF

The current instructions specify PDF format and 10–300 KB for the scanned passport bio page. Use the same passport as the form and inspect every detail for legibility. The screenshot is public guidance, not a completed upload.

  8. 08

    Review before confirming or submitting

Compare all answers, documents and declarations with your passport and actual plans. Correct errors while the live form permits changes. Choose declarations yourself. A current review screen is not pictured because it requires a real application.

  9. 09

    Pay through the government portal

The fee depends on nationality. Follow the portal’s payment instructions and pay at least four days before travel. Keep the application ID and receipt, and use Verify Payment if you need to check the result. This is the blank public payment-check screen.

  10. 10

    Check the ETA before travelling

Use Check your Visa Status with your own application ID and passport. Confirm that the ETA says GRANTED and print a copy to carry. Check its dates and permitted entry points; submitting or paying does not mean a visa has been granted.

Know which validity applies

The current government FAQ says a 30-day e-Tourist Visa runs for 30 days from your first arrival, and that first arrival must be between the issue and expiry dates on the ETA. One-year and five-year tourist visas instead run from the date the ETA is granted. Check the service and dates shown on your own ETA.
